Hi Guys,
I got a question about the current draw for my board. This was on my "to-do" list but a brain cell refresh error happen... A cool thing about the extender card I'm using from Bob Mullen. It has these screw terminals that you can open for current measurements! Thanks Bob! Great idea. My board, in full configuration is using 1.044 Amps!! If you remove 1 UART and 2 of the 8212 I/O chips, it drops to 0.800 Amps. Fabio is using a switching regulator, very cool idea (yeah, sorry about the pun). I have documented the full current usage experiments, part numbers, etc on the Wiki Build Page. I also copied a great write up from Vince regarding heat dissipation. He explains everything very well, with the exception of what happens when you put your tongue on a freezing metal pole in the winter. Cheers, Josh Bensadon |
