Nothing has “frozen up” for me ever! However I mainly do hardware. I am currently running MSDOS 4.01 with an 80386. But have over the years run it with 8088, 8086 and 80286 CPU boards – all very simple/standard programs. Not quite sure what you mean by freezing up. If you push the hardware – particulary without bus termination things will freeze. I generally work at 10MHz (actual S100 bus phi clock speed). Have been beyond 12MHz but then freezes will happen. Its more a function of your hardware old/new boards etc. than anything else. To state the obvious bad software will freeze! I'll have to check to see what programs are compatible with MSDOS v4.01. How stable is 4.01 ? Can I expect a continuous 2 hour session without crashing or does the machine freeze up regularly etc ? Just wondering if theres any pain points and how painful they are :)
