I'm suspicious that the DRAM used as a sensor may be the Mostek MK4006. The pictures of the sensor have the same construction and the pinout looks correct.

I remember being fascinated reading that article when it first came out!

The controller manual seems to be missing the schematic for the 2nd board of the controller. There is still no description of the imaging chip, except to list a Cromemco part number.
