Re: [N8VEM-S100:6453] Re: CP/M running, But now what ?

Josh,

I run the console and terminal at the same time.

I noticed this anomaly while doing "dir's" of Disk A,B,C& D
as I looked for the X-modem/Zork files you mentioned.

When I do DIR from the console I see all files on both displays.

When I do DIR from the terminal I see just the first file in the
directory on both displays.

Otherwise they echo each other on display/keyboard.

I found the Zork 1-3 files, D: was blank, but I found nothing
on the X-modem. Also I can't get zork to load... I can switch
to the drive, but when I type ZORKx it just loads from the SD and
drops to the prompt.

Todd

Hi Jeffa, Todd,

The latest image files on the wiki site include Martin Eberhard's X-Modem and some images with ZORK.

Todd, I don't know why your RS-232 is only providing a partial directory.... that's very weird. Have you tried to connect the console I/O and the Terminal both at the same time? You can do this, and just watch the input from the other device. When you run DIR on the console I/O you should see the same output on both. Same goes for input from the terminal.

The reason I prefer the terminal, is because you can use Martin's X-Modem in CP/M to upload/download files to the disk image.

Yes, it would be nice to write some software that will read/write to the image files directly from windows, I just don't have the 16 hours to do this. Currently working on building a case for my Mark-8.

Regards,
Josh

I see the monitor has a XModem UL/DL feature, or will I have to create a "DISK-A"
image and introduce my own files into it using a PC ?

Ditto for me. :-)

What is the procedure for introducing files into the DISKxxx images? It sure would be nice to have a chooser to copy files into the DISKxxx images from the local ms/dos, linux or osx file systems.

Or how about in the ROM. You put a file on the SD card and hit some menu option to save it to the currently mounted A> (or x>) drive.
