RE: [N8VEM-S100:5937] SOIC Packages For S100 Boards - Survey Question

Todd,

You might be new to this crowd, but if no one objects, I will speak for the crowd in this one matter.
No voice is too new, too old or too drunk to be heard on this group.  So long as it's on topic, in good taste and does not diminish some one else's pleasure.  Standard Netiquette.

Don,

I'm not counting the votes, but it would appear that through hole is preferred.  Let my advice on SMT serve anyone who wants it, but I'm going to change my vote to through hole to include those on or off the list or future members that where there in the 70's when S-100 started.  John's advice to plant the chips closer or to even use daughter boards will get you through this real estate crisis.

I remember a similar discussion on another list, and a good point was brought up about many who are not able to do SMT.  The reason may be anything (physical, psychological) but is definitely irrelevant.  What is relevant is that we are stronger as a group and even more relevant that we are not excluding any of our brothers who may stay silent on the issue for other non relevant reasons.

Regards,
Josh Bensadon

PS. And a Happy New Year to all!

may 2015 be the year S-100 takes back the PC market! :)

(fyi, that last line was more of a joke...)
