Ack! Imsai not Altair. By that I mean proper headers, not solder pads. :-) I've got a partially assembled Altair kit that I'm dreading finishing because of the all the wires for the buss. What a nightmare. Didn't they have ribbon cable and edge connectors back then? But I digress...

With headers you could combine two boards with a ribbon connector to get a multi slot board still suitable for Imsai ?or altair? replacement?

Would it be to BUSS noisy to use male and female connectors at right angles at the front and back of the backplane, laying parallel to the backplane so that if you want to combine two backplanes you just install the headers and slide the backplanes segments together? Similarly to this stackable 8x8 LED matrix. Note the female on the left and male on the right.

That might lead to a good idea... I wonder if we could bring all the contacts out to edge card pads on each end of the board. Not gold fingers, just pads... then the idea would be to place two (or more) of these boards in tandem and build a bunch of solder bridges from board to board... or perhaps use proper headers?

I'd be interested in a couple of these revised boards, so 2 at least will not be gathering dust on your shelf...
Kinda wish there was a nice thick 18-slot one too..
