RE: [N8VEM-S100:3703] RE: S-100 ISA bridge board for review

Andrew since this is a really specialized board and is based on quite a bit of our past experience with this concept, (this is our 4th version) it   may be best for the two of us to stick with this one for now.  Laying down the exact arrangement for the GAL’s is trickier than one might think because not only do you need 8 a 16 bit data swaps, you sometimes need to sequential send/receive two 8 bits of data back to back for a 16 bit transfer, each with its own Rd/Wr/wait signals.

While the board will be useful for some specialized purposes I really see it as a stepping stone to shift across VGA/XVGA PC-ISA boards to the S-100 bus.  With the above working, the latter should be easier.

Subject: S-100 ISA bridge board for review

Hi

I’ve updated the S-100 ISA bridge board design with the GALs for the next round of prototype boards.  Please review and post any comments or questions.

Does anyone want to learn how to order prototype boards?  I can walk you through the process and this would be a good board to start with.

It seems the builders have mastered the ordering and distributing of existing boards so now we need to move on to other topics like board maintenance and getting prototype boards.

This will require working knowledge of KiCAD.  Any volunteers?  Thanks and have a nice day!

Andrew Lynch
