Re: Looking for a teletype

I've got ASR33's to spare if you're willing to pick one up in Chicago, but I'm not interested in shipping. Make me a reasonable offer.  I might be willing to drive 100 miles to meet you if you add gas money.

John,

If you have luck with Paul at RTTY please let me know.  I'm also interested in getting an ASR33.

I did pick up one of the Texas Instruments Silent 700 series units that uses the thermal-paper-roll that early fax machines used.  It is from the early 80s but works well.  No paper tape unit though.

Yes, there is a place where you can purchase used Teletype machines, new and used Teletype spare parts and where there is someone to service them.  That place is RTTY Electronics in El Sobrante, California, 25 miles East of San Francisco.

RTTY Electronics is run by Paul Cembura, who for many years sold and serviced Teletype machines, and is now a walking tower of Teletype knowledge.  The pictures below give an idea of what Teletype items are available for purchase at RTTY Electronics.  There are not 10, 100 or 1,000 Teletype parts, but literally 100,000's of Teletype parts, some new, organized, indexed, and available for purchase by Teletype restorers, rescuers, and users of Teletype machines of yesteryear.

IF Paul does not have the Teletype machine or part (SOME still sealed in plastic from 1970s, it likely doesn't exist).

Have fun !!!
