Re: [N8VEM-S100:5329] FP MIni Board heat sink

Thank you John for the warning.

In the kits I included a mica washer. I always try and use the mica washer.
Not only does it prevent shorts, it always provides a heat insulator.

Mine never got too hot but to be honest I never ran very long. I ran it overnight
once doing a 8251 serial test.

Here's an opportunity for someone to school us on Thermal Resistance (C/W).
There are many heat sinks for TO-220 package. All offering different levels of
thermal resistance. I'm not sure what the C/W values represent. Do higher
numbers mean better cooling or visa-versa?

There are quite a few LED's on the board so the regulator will run hot with
a small heat sink. I always like to use the larger ones remembering in
electronics, "heat kills". There is plenty of room anyway. See picture.

What? Maybe I missed something somewhere. Where is there a risk of a short?
I don¹t see where the HS would contact anything other than the pour under
the HS.
