I purchased 20 when Ants was early-on in his backplane design. They fit a 17-slot MITS original backplane that I subsequently picked up on eBay as well as the thicker 8-slot design from N8VEM -- with an appropriate amount of solder-tail above the thick N8VEM PCB for a quality solder-joint.

I'm shopping for 26 connectors for Ants backplane and one of the 8-slot boards.Have to be sure they'll fit.Ed

I think the ones you're looking at from Digikey are the wrong pitch; the pins are spaced at .1 and I think the S-100 connectors are .125.
