Yes, you are correct. You must flip the ribbon cable as shown attached. Pins 1 and 16 carry D0, pins 2 and 15 do D1, etc. Folding a ribbon cable over on to itself has no effect on where pin 1 ends up. Installing a ribbon cable from the other side of a board will mirror or flip pins 1 and 16 in this case, or pins 1 and 2 in the case of a standard pin numbering of a ribbon cable. Mirroring pins 1 and 16 will have no effect on this board, since they are the same D0 bus line. No other choice, flip the ribbon. PS. Don has this connector in the right orientation, I have it reversed it on my board for the simplicity of the traces. Question; There is a 16-pin socket for a ribbon cable to bridge the FP to the CPU card. It looks like the one of the FP is rotated 180 degrees from the one on the 8080 CPU? Is this expected? I'm assuming I need to twist the ribbon cable to keep pin-1 from the FP-Mini to pin-1 on the 8080 CPU, is this correct?
