Re: [N8VEM-S100:3132] Re: boards uploaded to wiki

Andrew,

How do you specify the gold plating on the edge connectors?  For S-100 cards this is an important consideration.

I read in my own research that the ENIG gold finish that is used to prep for soldering is only about .1 microns of gold over 5 microns of nickel and that a proper Hard Gold coating for a card edge connector is 1.5 microns gold over 5 microns nickel.

Are the past S-100 boards you have done for the group ENIG, or something else?

Some of the cheaper prototype PCB places don't even offer ENIG at all in their basic products, let alone a hard gold type coating.  So this is a discriminator for what process to select.

Hi Neil

Any board house will probably do fine.

I use PCBcart.com for "production" boards and 33each.com for prototypes.

Good luck!  Thanks and have a nice day!

Andrew,

Can you provide some info on who you use to manufacture the boards etc? I'm completely new to this; using someone you've had success with seems like a good idea.

Hi
I uploaded the EDA files, schematics, and PCB layout files for the S-100 80286 CPU V2, S-100 SMB V2, and S-100 MS DOS Support V2 boards to the wiki in their appropriate folder.

These boards are ready for production so if you want to make some orders feel free.  Thanks and have a nice day!
