RE: [N8VEM-S100:1728] S-100 80386 SRAM V3 board (32MB) trace routing job

Thanks Ron!

If anyone else wants to give it a try just go to FreeRouting.net and start the router.

Use the attached Specctra export for the board information.

I really appreciate your help!  Thanks and have a nice day!

If you send me the file, I can start running it.

Andrew, I have a quadcore linux box running four gbs of ram- I think that should suffice. Mostly I use it for web surfing, so shouldn't be too much of a drain. Let me try to indtall the software and let you know when I'm ready to give it a shot.

Hi

Does anyone have a high speed modern CPU that could take on a long term PCB trace routing job?

It could be a Windows machine, Linux, or any other operating system which can run a recent Java VM.

The board is the S-100 80386 SRAM V3 board (32MB).  It uses SMT chips to jam on a huge amount of SRAM however the trace routing is extremely complex.

The board needs many weeks or even months in a fast trace router job.

All it needs is to run uninterrupted.  Check on it every day or two and save the progress as you go.

The PCB trace optimizer is written in Java and available on line here:

http://freerouting.net/

It is a single threaded application so it will not eat the entire CPU processing budget on a modern multicore computer.

However it will dominate a single core of a multicore CPU and several hundred megabytes of RAM.

If you have a machine you think would qualify and are willing to take on the job please let me know.

Thanks and have a nice day!
