RE: [N8VEM-S100:2883] Searching for some boards (6502 v2/8088/M68K/4MB SRAM)

Guys on the 16MG Static RAM Andrew an I have made some very small changes/corrections to the circuit. Its currently being rout optimized. Because of the recent scare I had with an address line screw-up on my part on the last prototype, I am going to do a final production run with just 3 or 4 boards myself before we run a multi-board run for everybody.  That way I can sleep at night.  It’s harder that you might think to identify overlapping address lines in 16MB.  Even with a 80386 it takes hours.

Also I have to say that unlike the 4MB board that uses DIPS this board uses 8 surface mount chips (and a mezzanine board).  You will need a very pointed soldering iron, flux paste and a magnifying glass light. I have soldered 28 chips in all so far without a problem, but if you don’t have a steady hand soldering these chips in place will be difficult.  It is all but impossible to remove them without special tools.  I seem to remember there are outfits that will contract solder.

If I had 3 hands I would do a video of the soldering process. I will look into setting up a rig and doing a demo.

John

Hi Matt!
Great, I'd be interested in at least one of the boards (actually I'd take two if you can spare 3: I don't want to leave anyone in need without).
As most weekends I'm away but I'll be at home and able to pay tomorrow in the morning if you send me the total . (BTW, do you still have my address?)

Thanks,
Fabio

Hey Fabio!

I've got four of the 4MB SRAM boards unbuilt - I could probably spare 2 or 3 of them if people such as yourself need them. As you said, they'll be obsolete soon, but still nice to have one.

Hi everyone,
As I'm approaching a state where my S-100 system is becoming usable, I'm looking at my queue of boards-to-build and noticed a few holes I'd like to fill up. Some are more "important" than others.
First of all, I want to clarify that I'm in search of unbuilt cards, but at worst stripped ones are ok also (where you removed the components to fill another board). I will pay for the card, and of course and it's also not a problem to factor in the cost you paid to get it shipped to you.

1) I'd like to find a 6502 V2 CPU card: I built a 6502 v1 right now, but I'll have to remove that cpu card once I have a Z80 card ready, as it is not IEEE-696 compliant and cannot live with other cards. I'm developing a liking to the 6502 processor, and I'd love to keep one in my box.

2) I'm in search for an 8088 cpu card (I understand it's the basic homebrew x86 card for the S-100 box, good for beginners like me together with the Z80 card). I have an 8086 card, but there is an 80c88 in my scrap box just asking to be used...

3) No particular reason for this one, except that I have a few 68000 and 68010 processors left over from my Amiga repairs. It's a 16-bit cpu and I'll move to this kind of board once I get confident enough with the rest

4) The 4MB SRAM card. Ok, I know this is made obsolete by the 16MB ram board (In fact I have my name down for three), but I'd love to build one nonetheless, expecially since it uses nice DIP chips and I have a bunch of compatible ones in my boxes...

Anyone having one of these boards to sell?
Fabio
