Re: [N8VEM-S100:7447] Playing with FP Mini, Crustys 8080, Con I/O & SMB

Josh,

The 8080 board has been working fine for months, it wasn't until
I installed the FP Mini and started playing around when it went out.

I doubt the FP had anything to do with it, the power supply was a
used purchase from Ebay, probably took a crap.

Todd

Todd,

The 8080 board uses the +/- 16V for only two circuits...
1. The 8080 and 8224 clock chip itself (draws only a few milliamps, I'll guess 50ma max)
2. The RS232 transmitter chips 1488's, and I'll guess these use about 10ma max.

Check the 78Lxx and 79Lxx regulators for any shorts, or check capacitors for correct polarity?

Regards,
Josh

I finally found some time to play with my setup now that
I finished the FP Mini board. Why trying to integrate
all the boards to work together, I lost my +16vdc....

Out of all the boards, only Crustys 8080 uses +/- 16vdc
The switcher I have outputs +15vdc @ 1.5 amps & -15vdc @ 1.5 amps.
Was this not enough ? What is the required draw for the 8080 pcb ?

Now I can't play today until I get another supply :-(

I'd like some setup tips from other users with same setup.
